Shades of Soul: The Power of Black & White
I often get asked why, in this era of vibrant colour photography, some people still opt for black and white images.
Firstly, black and white photos can achieve incredibly high contrast compared to their colour counterparts, bringing out a unique aesthetic and emotional depth.
Secondly, black and white imagery filters out unnecessary distractions, allowing the viewer's focus to center purely on the essence of the subject.
Lastly, without the need for RGB sensors to capture color, light hits the camera's CMOS or CCD sensor directly. This means each black and white pixel is about twice as clear as a color pixel, rendering the black and white image with exquisite detail and delicacy.
I feel like the colour photographs tell a story, black and white photos tell a feeling.
Which black and white photo has left a lasting impression on you? 🙂
